My Story
My story is about menopause, my hysterectomy, how I am coping with surgical menopause and how I wrote this website without having computer programming skills, just the passion and desire to share my knowledge with other women in search for answers.
I am an adopted New Yorker, a single mom working hard to make ends meet, running between trains, buses and jobs, like so many other women in the big and crazy city.
I always had very little time for myself, and being overall a healthy woman, I didn't pay too much attention to my body till one day I noticed that my jeans are too tight and my abdomen kind of swollen.
I went for check up, tests, CT scans, all that stuff. I had an adnexal pelvic mass, which needed surgical evaluation. I turned to the internet to learn about it, everything was so scary, so much information, overwhelming!
 I went for exploratory surgery and ended up with Hysterectomy. I was crushed. The process of recovery was very slow for me, a lot of painkillers, infections after infections, low blood counts, all that bad stuff. Even when I got home I needed nurse service, I lost so much blood!
I took two months off work and tried to take it easy. I needed a lot of patience to recover from hysterectomy. I finally got to know my own body; I discovered it inch by inch. I studied all the pains I experienced, and tried to understand what triggered those pains and how can I get rid of them, or, at least get some relief. I read so much... books, articles, anything to lighten me up. I became a computer nut, reading and surfing the net till exhaustion.
I kept saying to myself: "I need to get over this!"
My main problem was not the physical pain.
It was the mental pain! That was bothering me the most. Who was that lady in my body? Depressed and always in tears? Not me! I am a happy, bubbly woman, with a great smile and a strong sense of humor.
So, after about a month of crawling around, being carried back and forth to doctors and ER, I started slowly to focus on what is happening to me.
I began eating better, drinking lots of fluids, taking less pain killers and walking in my neighborhood, little by little, discovering things I've never seen before.
I came up with my own solutions and decided to share my knowledge with other women that are going through this change in life and desperately look for answers.
But How?
First I thought of writing a book. I did a lot of research, I tried a lot of products and I drank a lot of herbal tea. I wrote hundreds of articles. English is my second language and I quickly realized it was way too difficult and also extremely expensive. Then I thought about internet... how about a website? I am always happy to try new things... but I have no programming skills or web design knowledge... and I am not sure that I can write...
Having a lot of passion for "menopause solutions" subject, I started to look for some programs, to learn how to build a website. Somehow I came across Site Build It!
